CLEBURNE, TX – The Lincoln Saltdogs announced today that they signed right-handed pitcher Ty’Relle Harris to a contract.  The Saltdogs placed RHP Cameron McVey on the Disabled List retroactive to August 12th.

Harris is expected to start in tonight’s game against the Cleburne Railroaders.

The righty from California brings nine seasons of professional experience to the Saltdogs.  He spent parts of four seasons bouncing between the Atlanta Braves and Chicago Cubs organizations.  He reached the Triple-A Iowa Cubs in 2011 and 2012 and combined to post a 2-3 record with a 4.72 ERA in nine appearances.

The 6’3” Harris has played in various foreign winter leagues and multiple independent leagues in every season since 2012.  He played for the Grand Prairie AirHogs in the American Association in both 2014 and 2015, going 1-1 with a 2.78 ERA in ’15.  This year, Harris pitched in eight games for the York Revolution in the Atlantic League.  He was 1-2 with an 8.17 ERA.  The 30-year-old pitched for Brisbane of the Australian Baseball League over the winter, going 1-0 with a 3.00 ERA in seven relief appearances for the eventual ABL champions.

Harris spent two seasons pitching for the University of Tennessee in college. He was 6-6 with a 5.34 ERA in 16 starts and 36 total appearances for the Volunteers.  He was a 19th round pick by the Atlanta Braves in 2009.

McVey left his last appearance, on August 11th with a hamstring injury.  He owns a 1-0 record with a 1.00 ERA over 29 games this season.  He has 37 strikeouts over 27 innings of work while mostly appearing in the eighth inning.

The league-leading Saltdogs take on the Cleburne Railroaders in game two of a three-game series tonight.  First pitch is at 7:06 PM with coverage beginning at 6:35 PM on ESPN 1480 and saltdogs.com.
