LINCOLN – The Lincoln Saltdogs completed a prior trade with the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks by acquiring right handed pitchers Carlos Pimentel and Dimitri Kourtis today.  The Saltdogs released RHP Alex Daniele and RHP Zeb Sneed.

Pimentel brings 10 seasons of minor league experience to the Saltdogs.  He was first signed in 2007 by the Rangers and spent seven seasons in their organization.  Then he played two years in the Cubs farm system before tossing one season for the Padres’ Triple-A affiliate.

Pimentel played three seasons in Triple-A making stops in Round Rock, Iowa and El Paso.  He has a career record of 69-62 with a 4.20 ERA.  Pimentel has been used mostly as a starter throughout his career, tallying 187 starts in his 10 seasons.

Most recently, Pimentel pitched for El Paso in the Pacific Coast League and notched a 12-8 record and a 5.65 ERA.  He struck out 121 hitters in 145 innings.

Kourtis, a rookie, rookie joins the Saltdogs after a stellar college career at Mercer University.  Kourtis collected a 19-8 record and a 2.82 ERA over his four seasons as a pitcher for the Bears.  He had a career strikeout to walk ratio of 169 to 53.  The righty made most of his appearances out of the bullpen but tallied 14 starts over his career.

Kourtis had one of his best seasons as a senior when he boasted a 3-2 record with a 2.37 ERA.  He struck out 32 batters over 30.1 innings and built a WHIP of just 0.92.  He was a finalist for the NCAA’s Senior CLASS Award.

The Alpharetta, Georgia native had an excellent junior season in 2014 as well.  He was second team All Atlantic Sun Conference and on watch lists for national relief pitching awards.  He notched a 5-1 record with a 1.15 ERA.

Kourtis was voted team MVP his senior season at Alpharetta High School after helping to lead the Raiders to a 5A regional championship.

Sneed and Daniele were both signed as free agents in 2017 and never threw an official pitch for the Saltdogs.
