LINCOLN, NE — Kyle Kinman has been named the Rawlings Pitcher of the Month for the month of June, the American Association announced on Monday.
Kinman turned in a 1-1 record with a 1.40 ERA over six starts during the month of June. He tossed 38.2 innings and allowed just six earned runs on 23 hits with 16 walks and 36 strikeouts, while leading all ‘Dogs starters in ERA by nearly three full runs.
The left-hander began the month with five scoreless innings against the Milkwaukee Milkmen on June 2nd. Four days later, he gave up just one unearned run over 7.2 innings against the Texas AirHogs, and four days after that he yielded one run across 7.1 innings at Sioux City.
Kinman went five more scoreless innings on June 15 in Sioux Falls before a season-best, eight-inning gem in which he allowed just one run against Milwaukee on June 20. In his final start of the month Kinman allowed four runs over 5.2 innings against Cleburne, and during the month of June had a stretch in which he allowed just two earned runs over 33 innings.
Kinman is back for his second season in Lincoln after his debut in independent baseball a season ago. The Omaha native and Bellevue University product went 6-5 with a 3.90 ERA in 21 appearances and 15 starts last season.
Last year was also Kinman’s first as a full-time starter in professional baseball. Prior to his time in Lincoln, Kinman pitched for three years in the Atlanta Braves organization before he lost most of 2016 and all of 2017 to Tommy John surgery.
In his affiliated career, Kyle Kinman is 5-2 with a 2.34 ERA in 76 appearances.
Kinman will make his ninth start of the year on Monday in St. Paul. First pitch time is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. and pregame coverage will begin at 6:35 p.m. on ESPN Lincoln 101.5 FM/1480 AM.
