SIOUX CITY, Iowa — It got ugly in the middle innings as Sioux City punched in 11 runs over the final four innings to rout the Saltdogs 15-6 at Lewis and Clark Park Tuesday night.

Lincoln led 2-1 heading into the bottom of the fifth before the bloodshed began. The ‘Dogs committed three errors, which led to six unearned runs.

Asif Shah hit a three-run home run for the ‘Dogs in the seventh inning, his first of the campaign.

Ray Serrano knocked two out of the ballpark for Sioux City. Brian Bistagne went deep as well, a three-run blast in the eighth inning.

Nick Schumacher (2-0) pitched seven innings, allowing five runs on seven hits while striking out eight and walking four to pick up the win. Jino Gonzalez (0-2) allowed two earned runs on seven hits in 4 2/3 innings to suffer the loss.

The teams meet for game three of the series at Haymarket Park Wednesday morning at 11 a.m. Tommy Palica (0-1, 10.39) is expected to start against Richard Salazar (1-0, 5.40). The play-by-play will be streaming online only at www.kfor1240.com.
