FARGO, N.D. — Alex Caldera got the better of Ryan Sheldon in a pitcher’s duel as the RedHawks (49-25) edged the Saltdogs (29-45) 2-1 in front of 4,814 fans at Newman Outdoor Field Sunday afternoon.

Caldera (9-2) pitched 7 1/3 innings, allowing one run on six hits while striking out five and walking two to earn the win. Sheldon (5-3) tossed six frames, allowing two runs on seven hits while walking one and striking out seven to suffer the loss. Tom Boleska worked a perfect ninth to record his 23rd save.

Ryan Delgado launched a two-run homer in the second inning to right center, his 13th of the year, that proved to be the difference.

The Saltdogs scored their lone run in the sixth on a David Espinosa fielder’s choice after Sean Smith and Jimmy Rohan began the inning with consecutive singles.

Mike Provencher went 3-for-4 for his second three-hit game of the weekend.

Fargo-Moorhead won its 14th straight game at home and finished its season series 9-0 against Lincoln.
