LINCOLN — Fabian Williamson was magnificent on the mound and Jon Weber provided the big blow as the Goldeyes (17-6) blanked the Saltdogs (11-14) 4-0 in front of 4,251 fans at Shaw Park on a chilly Monday night.

Williamson (2-3) went 6 2/3 innings, allowing just three hits while walking three and punching out 11 in the victory.

Weber belted a three-run shot in the first inning to provide the majority of the game’s offense, his first long ball of the season.

Edwards (2-1) allowed three runs on eight hits in six innings, striking out five and walking one to take the loss.

The Saltdogs best chance of scoring came in the seventh inning when they had runners on second and third with one man out.

Mike Provencher broke up Williamson’s no-hit bid with a bunt single in the fifth, and finished the night 2-for-4 with a stolen base.

Lincoln has now not scored in the last 19 innings.

The teams meet again Tuesday night at 7 p.m. for game two of the three-game set. Jino Gonzalez (0-2, 7.43) is expected to take the Rich Hawkins (1-0, 6.75). Radio coverage begins at 6:35 p.m. on KFOR 1240.
