LINCOLN — Kansas City (23-20) scored early and often to rout the Saltdogs (17-24) 11-2 at Haymarket Park Sunday afternoon, matching Lincoln’s largest loss of the season.

Justin Bass stroked a three-run double with two outs in the second inning to give the T-Bones a 4-0 lead.

The ‘Dogs opened their account in the fourth inning with a Jimmy Rohan RBI single after David Espinosa had doubled to make it 4-1, but that would be as close as they would get.

Kansas City scored another in the fifth, three in the sixth and three in the ninth to nearly double their combined run output from the first two games of the set.

Devin Anderson (2-4) pitched well, going seven innings while allowing two runs on six hits to earn the victory. Ricardo Estevez (0-1) worked five innings in his Saltdogs debut, allowing four earned on five hits to draw the loss.

Joe Spiers finished the evening 3-for-5 with two stolen bases. Rohan went 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI and has now collected five hits over the last two games.

The teams meet again Monday night at 7:05 p.m. for the finale of the four-game series. Justin Edwards (2-4, 7.29) is expected to pitch for the ‘Dogs against Brian Grening (5-2, 3.43) for the T-Bones. Radio coverage begins at 6:35 p.m. on KFOR 1240.
