LINCOLN – The Lincoln Saltdogs are spending this week visiting the Lincoln Public Libraries to read to children.

The Saltdogs have partnered with the Lincoln City Libraries for the past ten seasons and are embracing this year’s theme of Build a Better World.  The players are visiting each library to talk about the ways they are building a better world and offering ideas on how the kids can help build a better world.

The incorporation of the Saltdogs players into the program helps kids to make a connection between local sports figures and education.  They will see how the Saltdogs players value education and how they use it in their everyday life.

The players and the team mascot, Homer, appeared at Eiseley and Walt libraries on Monday plus South Library on Tuesday morning.  Here is the remaining schedule for library visits:

Tuesday, June 20: Anderson Library – 1:00-1:45 PM

Wednesday, June 21: Bennett Martin Library – 10:30-11:15 AM

Gere Library – 1:00-1:45 PM

The Summer Reading Program reaches over 15,000 kids during the summer months.  It encourages kids to read and rewards them for their efforts.

The Saltdogs face the Winnipeg Goldeyes tonight at 6:45 PM.  Coverage begins at 6:15 PM on ESPN 1480 and saltdogs.com.

Tickets are on sale and can be purchased by calling (402) 474-2255 or visiting Saltdogs.com.  For the latest information on the Saltdogs follow the team on Facebook and Twitter/Instagram @saltdogsball.
