LINCOLN – The Lincoln Saltdogs announced the acquisition of experienced independent league starting pitcher Seth Webster today.  The 27-year-old right hander was acquired in a trade with the Somerset Patriots of the Atlantic League in exchange for future considerations.

Webster has pitched in parts of four seasons with the Schaumburg Boomers of the Frontier League and spent one year in the Braves organization.  He is notable for his delivery, which dips to sidearm or lower on most of his pitches.

Webster started his professional career with the Frontier League’s Schaumburg Boomers in 2013.  He was dominant for the suburban Chicago club, going 6-1 with a 2.40 ERA with two complete games.  He had another solid season for the Boomers in 2014 and pitched seven shutout innings in the season opener in 2015 before the Atlanta Braves signed him.

The sidewinder spent most of the year in High-A with Carolina where he posted an 8-7 record with a 2.82 ERA over 19 starts.  Webster returned to Schaumburg in 2016 and he compiled a 3.91 ERA with three complete games.

Webster and the rest of the Saltdogs will report to start Spring Training on Friday, May 5th.

The home opener for the Lincoln Saltdogs is Thursday, May 25th at Haymarket Park against the Cleburne Railroaders.  Tickets are on sale and can be purchased by calling (402) 474-2255 or visiting Saltdogs.com.  For the latest information on the Saltdogs follow the team on Facebook and Twitter/Instagram @saltdogsball.
