LINCOLN — The Saltdogs have added three left-handed pitchers to their 2015 roster, re-signing 2012 team rookie of the year Conor Spink, 2014 rookie of the year Kevin McGovern and inking Lars Liguori after acquiring him in a trade with Sioux City.
Spink went 4-1 with a 3.05 ERA – both career-bests –  in 29 games of relief for Lincoln in 2014 before his season was shut down due to an arm injury.
Through June of last year, the 27-year old southpaw was 3-0 with a 0.46 ERA in 14 appearances. Spink has been a model of consistency in relief for Lincoln since 2012, going 6-3 with a 3.36 ERA in 94 games.
McGovern went 2-1 with a club-best 2.28 ERA in four starts for the ‘Dogs last July, earning American Association Pitcher of the Week honors after tossing a July 16 shutout at Trois-Rivieres.
The 24-year old from Philadelphia also threw eight shutout innings, striking out 10 in a no-decision August 2 against Grand Prairie. He finished 3-3 with a 4.22 ERA, striking out 60 in 64 innings after being acquired mid-season from Trinidad (Pecos League).
Liguori went 2-6 with a 4.64 ERA in 95 innings as a true rookie last season, splitting his time between Brownsville (United League) and Sioux City.
In three of his eight starts with the Explorers in 2014, the Oral Roberts product lasted at least five innings while allowing one run or less.
