York, NE – The Lincoln Saltdogs opened the 2019 exhibition season with a 6-2 loss to the Sioux City Explorers over 11 innings at Levitt Stadium in York, NE on Friday night.

Sioux City clubbed three homers – including a pair of two-run shots in a four-run sixth inning – and out-hit the ‘Dogs 12-7. The Explorers opened the scoring with an RBI single in the fourth inning and added another run on a solo homer in the eighth.

Lincoln got on the board when Nick Schulz doubled in Cody Regis in the 10th inning. Noah Cummings added a run with an RBI single in the 11th.

Kyle Kinman got the start for Lincoln and tossed two scoreless innings. John Brownell tossed a scoreless third before Colby Blueberg gave up the game’s first run in the fourth. Austin Boyle was tagged for all four runs in the sixth inning after Cameron McVey worked the fifth inning, and Evan Korson struck out three batters in the seventh.

Ian Kahaloa gave up a solo homer in the eighth, Tyler Anderson pitched a scoreless ninth, Jake Hohensee worked the 10th and Christian Torres finished things off in the 11th.

Tyler Moore clubbed a double in his first at-bat of the spring, while Curt Smith walked twice and Randolph Oduber singled. Miles Williams had a single, as did Cody Regis.

Jose Sermo clubbed a homer, and Dean Green hit a two-run shot. Hunter Wood also hit a two-run homer in the sixth.

Max Duval started for the X’s and tossed four scoreless innings with two walks and five strikeouts.
