The 2014 Saltdogs awards were handed out during Friday night’s win: Ian Gac, Marquis Fleming, Marshall Schuler and Kevin McGovern were honored.

Gac was named Saltdogs’ Player of the Year for the second straight season. The 29-year old from Bellevue, Wash. is hitting .353 with a league-leading 27 home runs (franchise record) and 77 RBI. The All-Star also leads the league with a .688 slugging percentage. He is a 2-time A.A. player of the week in 2014.

Fleming was named Pitcher of the Year in his first season in Lincoln. The 27-year old from Oakland, Calif. is 10-3 (and is just the 10th pitcher in franchise history to reach the 10-win mark) with a 3.38 ERA and 100 strikeouts in 119 2/3 innings. He also earn the win in the 2014 All-Star game and has earned a pitcher of the week honor in 2014.

Schuler was named Newcomer of the Year in his first season with the ‘Dogs. The 26-year old from Anaheim, Calif. was an All-Star, and has set a league record with 34 saves and a Saltdogs record with 49 games pitched, so far.

McGovern was named Rookie of the Year. The 25-year old from Philadelphia is 3-3 with a 4.22 ERA, and has racked up 60 strikeouts in 64 innings. The lefty threw a shutout July 16 to earn league Pitcher of the Week honors.
