The Lincoln Saltdogs have signed RHP Bryan Perez and INF/OF Nick Ultsch, the club has announced.

Both players will make their ‘Dogs debut in 2024.

Perez, 23, joins Lincoln from the Dominican Republic. Perez spent three seasons at the lower levels of the Houston Astros organization before he pitched for Grand Junction of the Pioneer League last year. The right-hander has 53 professional appearances and one pro start.

Last year, Perez went 2-0 with a 4.86 ERA across 10 appearances for Grand Junction. In three years with the Astros, he went 5-3 with a 5.25 ERA in 43 appearances, reaching as high as Single-A Fayetteville in 2023.

The ‘Dogs also added another California native in Ultsch, who joins Lincoln for his fifth pro season. Ultsch played with Ogen in the Pioneer League last year, where he hit .373 with seven homers and 73 RBIs in 89 games. Prior to last year, Ultsch spent 2019 with Napa in the Pacific Association, 2021 with Utica in the United Shore Pro Baseball League and 2022 with Billings of the Pioneer League.

Across four seasons, Ultsch is a .340 hitter with 21 homers in 181 games.

The ‘Dogs open the season at Fargo-Moorhead on Friday, May 10th. Lincoln’s home opener is Thursday, May 16th against the Cleburne Railroaders.
