GARY, Ind. — Charle Rosario picked up his 11th win as the Gary SouthShore RailCats (33-40) beat the Saltdogs (28-45) 7-5 to avoid the sweep in front of 1,991 fans at U.S. Steel Yard Monday night.
Rosario (11-5) worked seven innings, allowing three runs to improve to 3-0 in three starts against Lincoln.
The Saltdogs took a 1-0 in the third on a Ryan Wiggins sacrifice fly but Gary pounced for four in the bottom-half, highlighted by a Jose Sermo three-run triple.
Lincoln cut the deficit to one run twice: to 4-3 by the seventh-inning stretch before Gary plated two in the bottom-half; and 6-5 at the middle of the eighth.
Kevin McGovern (4-6) yielded five earned in six innings, walking three and striking out five to suffer the loss.
Matt Forgatch and Brian Joynt each had two hits and an RBI in the losing effort.
The Saltdogs came through with four two-out RBI hits but were unable to come back for the third straight time at the Steel Yard.
