WINNIPEG, MB – Charle Rosario held the Lincoln Saltdogs to just two runs on four hits over seven innings to give the Winnipeg Goldeyes a 6-2 win on Saturday night at Shaw Park.  The Goldeyes claimed a 2-1 lead in the best-of-five series.

While Rosario struck out ten and was dominant, Saltdogs starter Bennett Parry wasn’t as precise as usual.  The league’s regular season ERA champion let the first two batters reach in the bottom of the first inning.  Josh Romanski followed with a single to drive in the first run.  A sacrifice fly plated the next run before Wes Darvill got an RBI double to make it 3-0 Winnipeg.

Parry navigated a few tricky situations and didn’t allow a run over the next three innings.  But, the offense didn’t’ get their first hit until the fourth inning.

Winnipeg added to their lead in the bottom of the fifth.  Shawn Pleffner drew a walk to start it and Darvill added a single two batters later.  Then, Andrew Sohn reached when a throw by third baseman Christian Ibarra barely pulled the first baseman off the bag.  The next two hitters walked and registered a hit to knock in three runs and make it 6-0.

The Saltdogs got a couple of runs back in the top of the sixth.  Joe Robbins notched a ground rule double and Cesar Valera belted a homer to left field to make it a four-run deficit.  It was Valera’s fifth home run of 2017.

Victor Capellan and Ryan Chaffee combined to toss shutout frames to end the game for the Goldeyes.

The Saltdogs bring out Seth Webster to pitch the must-win fourth game on Sunday.  First pitch is at 4:05 PM with coverage beginning at 3:35 PM on ESPN 1480 and saltdogs.com.
