WICHITA, KS – Wednesday’s scheduled game between the Lincoln Saltdogs and Wichita Wingnuts at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium was cancelled due to rain. The game will not be played at a later date.
The rain began falling around 6:00 PM and continued until the game was called. Radar indicated rain was supposed to continue throughout the night.
The Saltdogs (47-26) and Wingnuts (45-29) were set to duel in a rubber match series finale at 7:05 PM. Wichita won the first game of the series 3-2 while Lincoln took the second one 6-5. The two teams sit atop their respective divisions and own the two best records in the American Association.
The Saltdogs lose their seven-series winning streak because the rubber match was rained out. Lincoln will finish the regular season having played 99 games instead of the scheduled 100.
The team returns to Lincoln to begin a four-game series with the Sioux City Explorers on Thursday. First pitch is at 6:55 PM with coverage beginning at 6:15 PM on ESPN 1480 and saltdogs.com.
Tickets are on sale and can be purchased by calling (402) 474-2255 or visiting Saltdogs.com. For the latest information on the Saltdogs follow the team on Facebook and Twitter/Instagram @saltdogsball.
