GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas — The Saltdogs (3-2) got another strong starting pitching performance and capitalized on some shoddy Grand Prairie AirHogs (1-4) defense in a 5-3 victory in 10 innings in front of 2,176 fans at QuikTrip Park Monday night.

After tying the score on an unearned run in the top of the ninth, the Saltdogs plated two runs in the top of the 10th to take a 5-3. Kevin Howard scored on a Chad Mozingo sacrifice fly and Tyler Smith quickly followed that up with a RBI single.

Grand Prairie committed seven errors, which led to two unearned runs for the 'Dogs.

Conor Spink (2-0) worked a scoreless ninth inning to pick up the victory for Lincoln. Marshall Schuler spun a perfect 10th to book his first save. Yhency Brazoban (0-1) surrendered three runs – two earned – to suffer the loss.

Justin Kuks tossed six innings in the start for Lincoln, allowing just one run but did not factor into the decision.

Brian Joynt made an outstanding diving catch down the right field line to rob former Huskers catcher Mitch Abeita of extra bases to lead off the bottom of the ninth.

The clubs are back at it Tuesday morning at 10:35 a.m. for game two of the three-game series. Radio coverage begins at 10:30 a.m. on kfor1240.com.
