LINCOLN, Nebraska – Greg Minier has been named the Rawlings Pitcher of the Month for July, the American Association has announced.

During the calendar month, Minier went 3-1 with a 1.61 ERA in five starts, totaling 28 innings with 27 hits, six runs, five earned, seven walks and 34 strikeouts. Minier did not allow a home run, and opponents hit .257 against him.

Minier also owns the lowest qualified ERA in the American Association this year, going 5-5 with a 2.38 ERA in 13 starts to begin the year. Over 72 innings, he’s allowed just 62 hits, 25 runs, 23 walks and struck out 73 hitters.

The left-hander from Oxnard, Calif. is with the Saltdogs for a second year. Last year, he went 9-4 with a 3.86 ERA – a top-10 finish among qualified pitchers in the American Association.

Minier began his professional career after he was drafted by the Chicago White Sox in 2017. After spending two years with the White Sox organization, Minier missed 2019 and 2020 due to injury before picking up his career last season.

Minier is the first Saltdogs pitcher to win the award since Kyle Kinman was named Pitcher of the Month in June 2019. Derek Gordon was also named Pitcher of the Month in July 2017.

The ‘Dogs continue a nine-game homestand with the Gary SouthShore RailCats on Monday night. Minier is slated to start the third game of the series on Wednesday night.
