LINCOLN — After tying the game in the bottom of the ninth, the Saltdogs (30-56) committed an error in the top of the 12th to fall to the Sioux City Explorers (65-21) 3-2 in front of 3,701 fans at Haymarket Park Sunday evening.
After an infield single from Tim Colwell, Lincoln committed a throwing error to third in the top of the 12th, leading to Ryan Court tallying an unearned run which proved to be the game-winner.
Brandon Stennis (1-0) pitched three hitless innings of relief to earn the win. Ryan Fennell (0-1) pitched two stellar frames, allowing a hit and an unearned run to suffer the loss.
Shairon Martis worked eight innings, allowing two runs on six hits while fanning seven and walking one but took the no decision.
Mike Gilmartin went 1-for-2, extending his hit streak to 10 games.
Michael Lang and Ryan Court each hit two-out solo home runs in the third and fourth innings, respectively, to put Sioux City ahead 2-0.
Eddie Young stroked a one-out RBI single to center to tie the game in the bottom of the ninth.
