LINCOLN — Shairon Martis threw a five-hitter as the Saltdogs (11-9) blanked the Sioux Falls Canaries (9-11) 7-0 in front of 2,158 fans at Haymarket Park Wednesday night.
Martis (3-2) allowed no walks, struck out five, and retired 21 of the final 23 batters he faced to earn the victory.
The Saltdogs scored three runs in the second inning, capitalizing on two walks and a hit batsman and getting a two-run single from Austin Darby (for his first two professional RBI).
Lincoln would add two more in the third and another two in the fifth to seal the rubber game.
Martis threw 117 pitches, including 79 for strikes, in the first complete game shutout thrown by a Saltdogs pitcher this season.
