LINCOLN – Tyler Herron pitched a complete game and led the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks to a 6-1 win over the Lincoln Saltdogs on Friday night.

Herron earned the win by allowing just one run on six hits and a walk in his nine frames.  He struck out five batters and tossed 102 pitches in the outing.

Ben McKendall was charged with the loss for the Saltdogs after allowing five runs on eight hits over four innings.  He walked one batter and struck out two.

The game opened in favor of the RedHawks.  Devan Ahart hit a towering solo home run past the right field bullpen to give Fargo the early lead.

They added to the advantage in the second inning.  K.D. Kang launched a solo shot to center field in the first at bat of the frame.

The RedHawks tallied another run in the top of the third inning.  Derrick Fox walked, stole second base, and then scored on a Chris Grayson single to make it 3-0.

They added their first two-run frame in the top of the fourth.  Fargo-Moorhead scored the runs on four hits and sacrifice fly to open up a five run advantage.

The Saltdogs scored their only run in the bottom of the fourth inning.  Matty Johnson turned on a 3-1 pitch and belted it over the right field fence to make it 5-1.  It was Johnson’s second home run of the season.

Fargo-Moorhead was able to scratch across one more run, this time in the fifth inning against reliever Fabio Martinez.  Grayson singled, moved to second base on passed ball and then stole third base.  Ahart hit into a fielder’s choice that scored Grayson to get to the final of 6-1.

The loss extended the Saltdogs’ losing streak to three games which is the longest home losing streak of the season.  This was the first time an opposing pitcher notched a complete game against the Saltdogs this season.

4,661 fans watched a season-low two hour and 18 minute game at Haymarket Park Friday night.
