LITTLE FALLS, N.J. — Nick Green was magnificent on the mound as the Saltdogs (27-27) topped the New Jersey Jackals (26-20) 5-2 to take the inter-league series at Yogi Berra Stadium Sunday afternoon.

Green (2-3) pitched 8 2/3 innings, allowing one earned on five hits, striking out seven and walking one to earn the win. The veteran right-hander threw just 17 balls in the first eight frames.

Luis Nunez homered for the third straight day, and Matt Forgatch belted a two-run homer to left center as the Saltdogs overcame an early 1-0 deficit.

Ty Kelley (1-2) allowed two runs in two innings of relief to take the loss. Marshall Schuler recorded the final out of the game to earn his league-leading 18th save.

Brian Joynt finished 2-for-4 with a double, a triple, a walk and two runs scored. Eddie Young and Omar Luna also delivered multi-hit performances.

Green would have tossed a complete game if not for a Saltdogs error with two outs in the ninth.

The Saltdogs are off Monday and open a three-game series at Trois-Rivieres Tuesday night at 6:05 p.m. CT. Radio coverage begins at 5:35 p.m. on KFOR 1240 with "At the Ballpark" and "The Obie Show."
