LINCOLN – For the second straight week, a Saltdogs slugger has been selected as American Association hitter of the week as 1B/DH Ian Gac earns the honors for the week ending May 26.
 
Gac went hit .414 (12-29) with five home runs and 15 RBI over the seven games.  Highlights during that awesome stretch for the Seattle native include a 4-5, grand slam, five RBI performance May 20 and a 3-5, two home run, five RBI effort May 26.
 
The 27-year old leads the American Association in home runs with six, RBI with 19 and is tied for first in hits (17) with teammate and last week’s A.A. hitter of the week Dennis Raben.  All of that damage has been done in just 12 games played.
 
Gac is hitting .386 overall on the young campaign, with nine runs scored and three doubles.  He boasts a 1.234 on base plus slugging percentage.
 
The big right-hander earned 2011 Carolina League MVP honors while in the Chicago White Sox organization.  He hit 33 home runs with 96 RBI that season for Winston-Salem.
 
Saltdogs 1B/DH Dennis Raben earned the award in the league’s opening week.
