WINNIPEG, Man. — Marquis Fleming baffled the opposition for the second time this week, and Brian Joynt homered for the second straight game as the Saltdogs (8-9) topped the Winnipeg Goldeyes (10-7) 4-1 in front of 5,834 fans at Shaw Park Sunday afternoon.

Fleming (2-0) twirled seven innings, allowing one run on five hits while striking out seven and walking three to earn the win. For the week, Fleming went 2-0, giving up just one run on seven hits, with 15 strikeouts in 14 innings pitched.

Joynt drilled a two-run screamer of a home run to left in the top of the eighth, cushioning the Saltdogs lead to 4-1. Marshall Schuler worked a hitless bottom of the ninth for his fourth save of the year.

The 'Dogs opened the scoring with two runs in the top of the fourth, capitalizing on two walks and a hit batsman, stealing three bases to take a 2-0 lead.

Winnipeg scored its runs on a Jake Blackwood RBI single in the fifth.
