GARY, Indiana – C Luke Roskam extended his hitting streak to 11 with a go-ahead three-run homer in the 10th inning, and the ‘Dogs held on for a 6-5 win over the Gary SouthShore RailCats at U.S. Steel Yard on Saturday evening.


Roskam homered in extras just one night after Nick Anderson hit a two-run homer in the 10th to give Lincoln (27-23) the lead for good on Friday, and the ‘Dogs clinched a series win in Gary with the finale coming tomorrow afternoon.

RF Francisco Del Valle opened the scoring with a solo homer in the 2nd inning, but DH Connor Panas extended his hitting streak to 15 – the longest for a ‘Dog since 2017 – with a three-run homer to make it 3-1 in the 3rd inning.

The RailCats (20-32) tied the game with runs in the 3rd and 5th. 3B Jackson Valera made it 3-2 with an RBI single in the 3rd before 2B Michael Woodworth tied the game with an RBI triple in the 5th inning.

The game remained tied until extras. In the 10th, CF Carson Maxwell was caught at third base as the lead runner when RF Zane Zurbrugg led off the inning with a fielder’s choice. After SS Drew Devine walked to put two on, Panas struck out. With two on and two out, Roskam homered to give the ‘Dogs a lead.

Gary SouthShore threatened to win in the bottom of the 10th. Valera singled with one out to score LF Gio Diaz and make it 6-4. RHP Carter Hope then came on for RHP Walter Borkovich following a walk to CF Jesus Marriaga. DH LG Castillo singled in a run to make it 6-5, and with two on and one out 1B Jose Contreras grounded out to third before C Seth Caddell grounded out to end the game.

LHP Tanner Brown allowed three runs on seven hits over 5 and 1/3 innings. RHP Devin Conn pitched 1 and 2/3 scoreless while RHP R.J. Freure picked up the win with two scoreless relief innings.

The ‘Dogs are 4-1 on the trip and are 20-12 since the start of June. The series concludes at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday afternoon and pregame coverage begins at 1:30 on KFOR FM 101.5/1240 AM.
