WINNIPEG, Man. — Kyle Anderson was masterful, needing just 77 pitches to throw a complete game as the Winnipeg Goldeyes (9-6) bested the Saltdogs (8-7) 7-1 in front of 3,539 fans at Shaw Park Friday night.
Anderson carried a perfect game one out into the eighth before Pat McKenna reached on an infield single.
The southpaw allowed a run on two hits, striking out three and walking zero to earn the win (3-0), and has allowed just four hits and no walks over 16 innings against the ‘Dogs this season.
Winnipeg scored three runs in the fourth and three more in the fifth.
The Saltdogs broke up the shutout with a Jon Smith solo homer to right in the eighth.
Shairon Martis (2-2) yielded six runs in five innings to suffer the loss.
Former Creighton Bluejay Tyler Elman pitched three quality frames of relief for the Saltdogs in his professional debut, allowing a run on four hits.
Seven-year Goldeyes veteran Luis Alen received an ovation from an adoring crowd after a video tribute was played on the big screen following the top of the first inning.
