LINCOLN, Nebraska – Tyler Anderson pitched 3.1 innings in relief and allowed just one unearned run, but the ‘Dogs were shut out by the Kansas City T-Bones in a 6-0 loss at Haymarket Park on Saturday night.
Anderson came on in long relief of Kyle Kinman – who entered play as the league’s qualified ERA leader and tossed five innings and allowed four runs in his 10th start of the year.
The ‘Dogs had seven hits in the game, and Cody Regis went 2-for-4 with a double. Lincoln had a runner on base in eight of the nine innings but only advanced a runner to third three times.
Kansas City opened the scoring on Daniel Nava’s two-run double in the 3rd inning, and Shawn O’Malley later made it 3-0 with an RBI single in the 4th.
Nava added another run with a double in the 5th inning, and O’Malley drove in two more runs with a two-run single in the 9th inning.
Randolph Oduber had a single and now has hits in 13 of 15 games, while Josh Mazzola had an infield single in his debut with the Saltdogs. Teodoro Martinez had a walk and a single, and Nick Schulz clubbed a double in the 1st.
Cameron McVey allowed one unearned run in 0.2 innings, and Kansas City starter Tommy Collier tossed seven scoreless innings to earn his fifth win of the year.
The ‘Dogs and T-Bones will now play a rubber match on Sunday evening. First pitch is scheduled for 5:05 p.m. and pregame coverage will begin at 4:35 on ESPN Lincoln 101.5 FM/1480 AM.
