LINCOLN – The Saltdogs are proud to announce that the contract of RHP Joe Bisenius has been purchased by the Atlanta Braves.  The American Association’s strikeout leader will report to Triple-A Gwinnett and enter the starting rotation.

Bisenius has reached the big leagues for the Philadelphia Phillies (2007) and Washington Nationals, and the 30-year old will be just a phone call away from reaching the show once more with the current National League East leaders.

An Omaha resident, Bisenius had 43 strikeouts over 37 innings, best in the American Association.  The 6-foot-4 hurler was 3-2 with a 3.89 ERA in six starts for Lincoln in 2013, and has posted a razor-thin 0.92 WHIP.

Bisenius had compiled 29 strikeouts over his last three starts.  He will join the Gwinnett Braves of the Triple-A International League, and is expected to make his first start in the coming days.

Over his last five starts, Bisenius had struck out 41 hitters while walking just five, for an eye-popping 8.2-to-1 ratio.

The Saltdogs have now had two players purchased by MLB organizations in the previous two weeks, as INF Dennis Raben was signed by the Kansas City Royals.

Lincoln has signed 42 players to big league clubs since 2001, and 16 since the beginning of 2011 (most in the American Association).
