FARGO, North Dakota – Ryan Long extended his hitting streak to a season-best seven games with an RBI single, Patrick Caufield had two doubles, but the ‘Dogs lost 3-1 to the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks at Newman Outdoor Field on Sunday afternoon.

Long’s single gave Lincoln (23-22) a lead in the 4th inning, but the RedHawks (33-13) scored on a wild pitch an RBI single in the bottom-half to take a 2-1 lead.

Fargo-Moorhead added a third run in the 5th after Sam Dexter led off the inning with a double and Nick Novak scored him with an RBI single.

The ‘Dogs loaded the bases with one out in the 9th inning. Caufield hit a leadoff double down the left-field line before Skyler Weber struck out looking in a pinch-hit appearance. Matt Goodheart worked a pinch-hit walk before Randy Norris’s single loaded the bases. After Josh Altmann fouled out, Hunter Clanin struck out swinging, and the ‘Dogs stranded 11 runners on over the final six innings.

Lincoln RHP Elijah Johnson went five innings and allowed three runs on three hits with four walks and three strikeouts in his fifth start as a professional.

Josh Norwood tossed two scoreless innings in relief, and Carson Lance went 1-2-3 in the 8th – his first relief outing of the series.

The ‘Dogs continue the trip in Milwaukee on Monday night. First pitch from Franklin Field is scheduled for 6:00 p.m., and all coverage is available on ESPN Lincoln 101.5 FM/1480 AM.
