LINCOLN, Nebraska – Skyler Weber went 3-for-5 with an RBI double, but the ‘Dogs fell 11-3 to the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks at Newman Outdoor Field on Friday night.
Weber’s RBI double cut Lincoln’s deficit to 4-3 in the 5th inning, but the RedHawks scored four times in the bottom-half en route to a win in the series opener.
The ‘Dogs fell behind 4-0 before Hunter Clanin scored two with a two-out double in the 4th, but Lincoln (22-21) allowed 16 hits and dropped the first of 12 games against the RedHawks this season.
Zach Keenan allowed eight runs over 4 and 1/3 innings in his fourth professional start, while Jonathan Cheshire pitched two-thirds scoreless innings.
Josh Norwood allowed one run in one innings, while Jesse Stallings pitched a scoreless 7th inning. OF Eddy Martinez pitched the 8th and allowed a two-run homer to Christian Correa.
Randy Norris had two hits from the leadoff spot, and Martinez had his first three-hit night as a Saltdog. Lincoln had 13 hits but stranded 10 runners on base.
Fargo-Moorhead (32-12) got 5 and 2/3 innings from Kevin McGovern, who allowed three runs on 10 hits. Three different RedHawks combined to finish the game with 3 and 1/3 scoreless innings in relief.
The ‘Dogs and RedHawks continue their three-game series on Saturday. First pitch is scheduled for 7:02 p.m., and pregame coverage will begin at 6:30 on ESPN Lincoln 101.5 FM/1480 AM.
