GENEVA, Illinois – Jason Rogers had three hits with an RBI, but the ‘Dogs fell 17-2 in the series finale at Northwestern Medicine Field on Thursday night.

Kane County (47-43) opened the scoring on Josh Rolette’s two-run single in the 1st inning. Later in the inning, Alexis Pantoja’s three-run homer made it 5-0.

The ‘Dogs (41-49) got on the board with Matt Goodheart’s RBI single in the 2nd, but the Cougars responded with four in the bottom-half. Jimmy Kerrigan’s RBI double restored the five-run lead before Nick Franklin hit a three-run homer to make it 9-1.

Kane County added to the lead with three in the 3rd. Ernie De La Trinidad added to the lead with an RBI groundout, Nick Anderson’s sacrifice fly made it 11-1, and Kerrigan’s RBI double gave Kane County an 11-run lead.

Galli Cribbs Jr. snapped a nine-game RBI drought with a single to extend Kane County’s lead to 12 in the 6th inning.

Rogers added his third hit and an RBI with a single that scored Justin Byrd in the 8th. The Cougars added four more runs in the bottom of the 8th.

Zach St. Pierre allowed nine runs in two innings. Nic Laio allowed three runs in three relief innings. Carson Lance allowed an unearned run in the 6th inning, and Matt Goodheart pitched the final two innings of the game.

The ‘Dogs return home to open the final home series of 2022 on Friday night. First pitch against Cleburne is scheduled for 7:05 p.m., and pregame coverage will begin at 6:35 p.m. on ESPN Lincoln 101.5 FM/1480 AM.
