FARGO, North Dakota – Cody Regis went 2-for-5 with a solo homer and three RBI, but the ‘Dogs allowed 10 answered runs in a 10-5 loss to the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks at Newman Outdoor Field on Tuesday night.

Regis opened the scoring with a solo homer in the 1st inning, and after John Sansone added to the lead with leadoff homer in the 2nd, Regis drove in two more with bases-loaded, two-out single to right-center. Tim Colwell bobbled the ball and allowed one more run to score to give the ‘Dogs a 5-0 lead.

The RedHawks immediately loaded the bases in the 2nd and scored twice on Yhoxian Medina’s two-run single before Brennan Metzger added another run with a groundout, and after Chris Jacobs hit a solo homer in the 3rd, Tim Colwell hit a two-run double to give the RedHawks a 6-5 lead.

Sansone hit a one-out double in the 8th but was stranded there, and the RedHawks sent 10 to the plate and score four more times to make it 10-5 in the 8th.

Both Regis and Sansone had multiple hits in the game, but the ‘Dogs struck out 12 times and didn’t have a hit from the 3rd to the 8th innings.

Ricky Knapp surrendered six runs on nine hits over 3.2 innings in his second start of the year, while Tyler Anderson tossed 3.1 scoreless innings in long relief. Jake Hohensee was charged for four runs on six hits in the 8th.

The ‘Dogs now wrap up the three-game series and six-game roadtrip with the rubber match against the RedHawks on Wednesday night. First pitch time is set for 7:02 p.m. and pregame coverage will begin a 6:30 p.m. on ESPN Lincoln 101.5 FM/1480 AM.
