LINCOLN, Nebraska – Edgar Corcino hit a three-run homer in the 7th, and James Pugliese worked a five-out save in Lincoln’s 9-7 win to even the series against the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks at Haymarket Park on Saturday night.
Corcino’s three-run homer put Lincoln (23-24) up 9-4 in the 7th, and Pugliese entered during a three-run 8th from the RedHawks (27-22). Pugliese allowed two hits but recorded the final five outs to earn his 12th save of the year.
Lincoln took a 3-1 lead in the 1st inning on a pair of RBI singles and a throwing error, while the RedHawks got back to within one on a Sam Dexter fielder’s choice in the 4th.
The ‘Dogs hit a pair of homers in the 4th – solo shots from Justin Byrd and Josh Altmann – to take a 5-2 lead before Kevin Krause hit a two-run homer to answer in the 5th.
The ‘Dogs extended the lead to 6-4 on David Vidal’s sacrifice fly in the 7th before Corcino hit his fifth homer of the year.
Josh Altmann went 2-for-4 with a solo homer and two runs scored, while Ryan Long 2-for-3 with with an RBI and a walk in his first game back after missing three with a hamstring injury.
Josh Norwood went 1.1 scoreless innings, earning his first win of the year. Carter Hope tossed a shutout 7th before Logan Lombana allowed three runs in the 8th.
The ‘Dogs and RedHawks will wrap up the series on Sunday afternoon. First pitch is set for 1:35 p.m., and pregame coverage will begin at 1:05 on ESPN Lincoln 101.5 FM/1480 AM.
