EL PASO, Texas — The El Paso Diablos (36-53) scored early and scored often in a 17-5 rout of the Saltdogs (47-42) in front of 862 fans at Cohen Stadium Wednesday night.
 
After plating two in the second, the Devils struck for six more in the third to open up a 8-0 lead.
 
Lincoln allowed the 17 runs on 20 hits, both matching season-highs. The 12-run margin of defeat was the widest of the season.
 
Justin Kuks (2-1) pitched six innings, allowing two runs on seven hits, striking out three and walking two to earn the win. Moises Melendez (3-5) lasted 2 1/3 innings, allowing eight runs on nine hits to suffer the loss.
 
Tyler Goodro was ejected in the bottom of the sixth for arguing balls and strikes while behind the plate.
 
The Saltdogs look to avoid the sweep Wednesday night at 8:05 p.m. CDT. Stephen Bougher (3-6, 3.55) will face Kevin Cooper (3-4, 6.71). Radio coverage begins at 7:35 p.m. on KFOR 1240.
