FARGO, N.D. — Curt Smith homered for the second straight night but the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks (14-12) topped the Saltdogs (16-11) 6-3 to avoid the sweep in front of 3,367 fans at Newman Outdoor Field Thursday night.
Smith’s solo missile to left, his sixth, tied the game at 2-2 in the top of the fourth.
Fargo then sprung for four runs in the home half of the fourth, capped off by three consecutive two-out, RBI singles.
Tyler Alexander (4-1) pitched 7 1/3 innings, allowing two earned to pick up the win.
Ryan O’Sullivan (1-2) yielded six runs on eight hits with six walks in 5 2/3 frames to suffer the loss.
Colton Reavis allowed a lead-off double to Pat Kelly and a bunt single to Chase Harris in the ninth but notched the save.
Luis Alen went 3-for-4 in the losing effort.
The Saltdogs return home to face Gary SouthShore on a Fireworks Friday tomorrow night at 6:35 p.m. RHP Lindsey Caughel is expected to face LHP Alex Gunn.
