MISSION

Provide a fun and learning environment for our interns to learn as much as possible in of the operation of a Professional Baseball organization by placing them in a position to gain experience and knowledge, which will allow them to utilize the skills learned in their future careers in sports management. We aim to develop college students into young professionals by giving them a great real-world experience as a member of the Lincoln Saltdogs Professional Baseball Team.

DESCRIPTION

We are looking for current college students or recent college graduates looking for a full-time internship to handle multiple responsibilities, with a focus on live video production. This position will assist the Video Production Manager with numerous projects, as well as being part of Dog Pound Productions during home games during the 2024 season (early May to early September). We are looking for highly motivated individuals with a great work ethic, organizational skills, a positive attitude, creativity, and able to work in the fast-paced field of live event production.

The Saltdogs utilize multiple LED display screens, including a new 60-foot big screen to play graphics, live video, replays, and promotional videos produced to enhance the fan experience. Dog Pound Productions also streams the live video production of every home game online.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES (including but not limited to)

  • Work directly with the Video Production Manager to help create videos and graphics for the Haymarket Park video displays and online content
  • Assist with in-game production and learn multiple positions, including operating cameras, replay, graphics, audio, directing and online stream management
  • Assist in the production of promotional videos and graphics for the big screen and/or online purposes
  • Create/edit video features for the big screen and/or online purposes
  • Help add to and maintain the music library for pregame and between innings
  • Collaborate with Production Manager and Saltdogs staff to generate new video/media ideas
  • Able to make quick decisions under short deadlines or with last minute changes
  • If needed, able to produce the big screen show with the understanding of the production software

DESIRED SKILLS

  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud software, including Premiere, After Effects, and Photoshop, or other comparable software
  • Basic knowledge of operating cameras, audio boards, and differing types of production software
  • Basic knowledge of camera, cable, and equipment upkeep
  • Able to learn and become familiar with new pieces of software and equipment
  • Knowledge and strong interest of sports, preferably of baseball
  • Some knowledge of lighting, green screen setups, and interview setups
  • Knowledge of in-house production procedures and goals
  • Able to adapt to situations as they arise
  • Able to complete work in a deadline-driven atmosphere and completed in an organized fashion
  • Able to take direction, critiques, and to ask questions when needed
  • Willingness to learn new skills and positions throughout the season

WHAT WE EXPECT FROM YOU

  • Able to commit to, at minimum, 45 of 50 Saltdogs home games and some non-game workdays from May to September, with the possibility of other events and playoff games in September
  • Able to commit to, at minimum, 5 Pre-Production shifts to assist in set up procedures
  • Video and audio editing experience
  • Strong communication skills and able to work in a team environment with enthusiasm and positivity

OTHER IMPORTANT DATES/DETAILS

Official Start Date: May, 2024 (based on school location and class/finals schedule)

Anticipated End Date: August 29th (could extend an additional two week based on potential playoff games); will be different for each intern’s school and start date of fall classes

Each intern will be paid Nebraska State Law Minimum Wage ($12.00 per hour) only during games.  Interns are not entitled to wages for the time spent in the internship. Throughout the timeframe of the internship, there will be opportunities for individuals to earn additional revenue if so desired. No housing will be provided.
