Lincoln, NE – Back in March of this year, Miles Wolff, the American Association commissioner announced the acceptance of the a team out of Milwaukee.  The Milwaukee franchise announced after the conclusion of the 2018 season that this new team would be the ‘Milwaukee Milkmen’.

Mike Zimmerman, the Wisconsin-based commercial real estate developer and owner of the new team announced in May that fans could participate in voting for the new team’s name with a $2,500 prize for the winning name.  Some of the original 10 names selected to be voted on were the Barn Owls, Bovines, Broilers, Cheesers, Cow Tippers, Crop Dusters, Farmhands, Haymakers, and War Pigs.  The official name was selected and announced back in mid-September via the team’s Facebook page, and Zimmerman said the name speaks well to Milwaukee and Wisconsin since many know the area as “America’s Dairyland”.

The Milwaukee Milkmen have partnered with the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee baseball program to co-develop a $125 million dollar project that includes a 4,000-capacity baseball stadium known as Ballpark Commons, and will be located 15 miles south of Milwaukee in the city of Franklin, Wisconsin.

Do ‘Dogs like Milk?  We’ll have to wait and see in 2019.  Stay tuned to more information about this new team as it develops.  For more information on the Saltdogs, follow the team on Facebook and Twitter/Instagram @saltdogsball.
