ROSEMONT, IL – The season finale game between the Lincoln Saltdogs and Chicago Dogs at Impact Field was rained out on Monday.
The Saltdogs finish their season 51-48. It is the third straight winning season for Lincoln. This is the second straight year in which the Saltdogs have finished after playing only 99 games.
Rain was a common theme in 2018. The Saltdogs played seven doubleheaders, six of them caused by weather, so it was fitting to see the final game cancelled because of severe weather.
The game was delayed in the top of the second inning with Chicago leading 2-0. They tallied four straight hits to start the bottom of the first inning and plated two runs.
The Saltdogs had runners at the corners after a hit from Christian Ibarra in the top of the second before the rain started to fall and lightning began to flash. The game was delayed for 41 minutes before it was cancelled.
