LINCOLN — David Espinosa delivered a walk-off single as the Saltdogs (25-18) completed the weekend sweep over the El Paso Diablos (10-34) with a 6-5 victory in front of 3,296 fans at Haymarket Park Sunday afternoon.
Espinosa hit a ground ball up the middle with one out to score Daniel Carroll from third and give Lincoln its first series sweep, and its first walk-off win of the year.
Mike Burns pitched seven strong innings, allowing just two runs but did not factor in to the decision. Conor Spink (1-1) went 1 1/3 innings, allowing a hit and a walk to pick up the win.
The Saltdogs had a 5-2 lead after seven but some sloppy defense led to three El Paso runs to tie the game.
Carroll finished Lincoln's 4-0 weekend with eight hits, a home run, seven RBI, five runs and four stolen bases.
The Saltdogs had five stolen bases and did not allow any in the series finale over the scuffling Diablos.
Lincoln is off Monday and will open a four-game series with Fargo-Moorhead at Haymarket Park at 7:05 p.m. Tuesday night. Radio coverage begins at 6:35 p.m. on KFOR 1240.
