The Lincoln Saltdogs have signed first baseman and outfielder Alex Baeza, the club has announced.

Baeza, 25, just finished his first professional season with Boise in the Pioneer League and slashed .341/.442/.570/1.012 with 14 homers and 72 RBIs in 72 games.

The California-born Baeza played collegiately at Hawai’i before finishing his career at Utah. In his college career, Baeza hit .271 with 10 homers and 109 RBIs in 185 games. He also played collegiate summer baseball in the Northwoods League and the Alaska League.

Baeza also played one season with Frederick in the MLB Draft League before in 2022 before starting his pro career with Boise last season.

Baeza went to Jordan HS in Sandy, Utah where he had a standout career as both a position player and a pitcher. Baeza also won a Rawlings Division I Gold Glove with Utah in 2022, making just one error in 505 chances at first base.

The Saltdogs begin the 2024 season at Fargo-Moorhead on Friday, May 10th. Lincoln’s home opener is Thursday, May 16th against the Cleburne Railroaders.
