The Lincoln Saltdogs have re-signed OF Zane Zurbrugg, the club has announced.

Zurbrugg provided the ‘Dogs with reliable depth in the outfield throughout 2023, and the 26-year-old is returning to Lincoln for his second season.

Zurbrugg hit .306 with four homers and 21 RBIs across 54 games last year – his first in the American Association. Zurbrugg showed up as a non-roster invitee to Lincoln’s spring camp in May and earned a spot with the team, where he remained all season.

Zurbrugg was originally drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 27th round of the 2019 MLB Draft out of Shoreline Community College near Seattle. He played 30 games with the Arizona League Brewers Gold in 2019 before playing in the independent Pioneer League in 2021 and 2022.

In total, Zurbrugg has 129 games of professional experience spanning affiliated and independent baseball. This upcoming year will be his fifth in pro baseball.

The ‘Dogs open the season at Fargo-Moorhead on Friday, May 10th. Lincoln’s home opener is Thursday, May 16th against the Cleburne Railroaders.
