The Saltdogs have signed LHP Christian Torres, INF John Sansone and LHP Tyler Anderson, the club has announced.
Torres, 25, is a former 30th-round pick of the Texas Rangers in the 2016 MLB Draft and will pitch in his first season of independent professional baseball.
The Faulkner University product is 14-13 with a 2.87 ERA over his first three years of pro baseball, which includes three seasons in the Puerto Rican Winter League.
With the Rangers, Torres reached as high as Triple-A Round Rock in 2017, where he posted a 1-1 record with a 4.76 ERA across five appearances. In 43 appearances at the Single-A level, Torres has a career 6-5 record with a 2.21 ERA.
The ‘Dogs are also adding another affiliated minor league product in John Sansone to the 2019 roster. Sansone was drafted by the Cincinnati Reds in the 8th round of the 2016 MLB Draft out of Florida State University, and has a career .230/.311/.371 slashline with 22 homers and 114 RBI in professional baseball.
Sansone reached Triple-A Louisville for three games in 2018, but spent most of his time in Single-A, where he hit .227 with 17 homers in 167 games. Sansone has 250 games of pro experience under his belt and is eight plate appearances away from 1,000 in his career.
Also signed to a contract for the 2019 year is LHP Tyler Anderson, who pitched four seasons at the University of Illinois-Chicago from 2011-2015.
