FARGO, N.D. — It was another rough first inning to open a series for the Saltdogs (15-21), as Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks (18-19) pounced for four runs and cruised to a 9-3 victory in front of 3,249 fans at Newman Outdoor Field Tuesday night.
After three innings, the RedHawks built their lead to 7-0 and would not look back, running their record to 4-0 against Lincoln this season.
Jake Laber (1-3) pitched seven, allowing three runs on seven hits while striking out a season-high seven to earn his first win of the campaign.
Brandon Hedrick (0-1) gave up six earned on five hits with seven walks in 2 1/3 innings to take the loss.
Tommy Collaro launched a mammoth two-run home run to open the Saltdogs’ account in the top of the seventh, his third long ball of the year.
Mike Provencher and Salomon Manriquez each had multi-hit games in the loss.
The teams meet again Wednesday night at 7:02 p.m. for game two of the three-game set. Justin Edwards (2-3, 6.42) will take the mound against Tyler Herron (1-3, 3.47). Radio coverage begins at 6:35 p.m. on KFOR 1240.
