A 6’3″ 200-pound right-handed pitcher, Sparks was drafted out of Aurora, Missouri High School by the Texas Rangers in the 23rd round of the 2018 MLB June Amateur Draft.  Sparks advanced to AA Frisco for the Roughriders in 2023, before eventually landing in Lincoln.  Over three minor league seasons, Sparks has recorded a 6-4 record over 12 starts and 32 appearances.

2024: Pitched in 39 games for the Saltdogs with a 2-2 record and a 4.14 ERA. In 50.0 innings, he struck out 46 batters.

2023: Began the season with the Frisco RoughRiders (Double-A TEX) in the Texas League. Sparks pitched in three games with one start. He pitched 5.0 innings and struck out one. He pitched in four games for the Hickory Crawdads (High-A TEX) in the South Atlantic League. He was 0-0 with a 8.10 ERA. In 6.2 innings, he struck out nine batters. Sparks pitched in 14 games for the Down East Wood Ducks (Low-A TEX) in the Carolina League. He was 4-1 with a 1.88 ERA, and one save. In 28.2 innings pitched, he struck out 26 batters. Sparks finished the season with the Saltdogs, pitching in five games. He was 0-0 with a 1.50 ERA and three saves. In 6.0 innings pitched, he struck out ten batters.

2022: Did Not Play

2021: Sparks recorded ten starts with Down East, going 1-1 with a 4.12 ERA. In 43.2 innings pitched, he struck out 34 batters.

2020: Did Not Play

2019: Started in one game for the Spokane Indians (Low-A TEX) in the Northwest League. He was 0-1 with a 5.40 ERA. In 3.1 innings, he struck out two batters.
