Matt Phipps returns to professional baseball action with Lincoln, this season.  A 6’3”, 220-pound catcher, Phipps played his college ball for Western Kentucky.  After college, Phipps played 24 games in Independent League ball, mostly recently with the Kentucky Wild Health Genomes of the Atlantic League, in 2022.

2023-24: Did Not Play

2022: Began the season with the Washington WildThings, in the Frontier League. He played in 10 games and batted .222 with one home run and two rbi’s. Phipps played two games for the Kentucky Wild Health Genomes, with one plate appearance and one walk.

2021: Played 42 games for the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers. He batted .187 with three home runs and 17 runs batted in.

2020: Phipps played 16 games for Western Kentucky, batting .368 with six doubles and eight runs batted in. During the summer, Phipps played 16 games for the Boynton Beach Buccaneers in the South Florida Collegiate Baseball League, batting .100 with four hits and four rbi’s.

2019: Played 54 games for Western Kentucky, batting .275 with three home runs and 32 runs batted in. During the summer, Phipps played 31 games for the Lafayette Aviators, in the Prospect League, batting .312 with two home runs and 21 runs batted in.

2018: During the summer, Phipps played 19 games for the St. Clair Green Giants, in the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League, batting .227 with four doubles and ten rbi’s.
