Castaneda was a 30th-round draft pick of the Philadelphia Phillies in the 2019 MLB June Amateur Draft, out of the Salisbury School (Salisbury, CT).

2024:   Did Not Play

2023:   Went 6-4 with a 5.42 ERA in 18 games with the New Jersey Jackals in the Frontier League.  In 17 starts, Castaneda threw 96.1 innings, striking out 77 and walking 53.

2022:   Pitched in three games for the Visalia Rawhide (A ARI) in the California League, going 0-1, 19.06 ERA in 5.2 innings striking out eight and walking four.  He also appeared in five games for the Diamondbacks Red in the Arizona Complex League, going 0-0, 2.70 ERA in 20.0 innings, with one start.  He struck out 26 and walked five.  Castaneda also had four starts for the Diamondbacks Black, going 0-4, 4.76 ERA.  In 17.0 innings, he struck out 13 and walked seven.  He also started three games for the Staten Island FerryHawks in the Atlantic League, going 2-1, with a 6.75 ERA.  In 16.0 innings, he struck out 18 and walked 11.

2021:  Went 2-4, with a 9.92 ERA for the Clearwater Threshers, (Low-A, PHL) in the Low-A Southeast League.  In 11 appearances and three starts, Castaneda struck out 36 and walked 28 in 32.2 innings.  He also appeared in three games with one start for the Phillies Rookie League team in the Florida Complex League, going 1-0 in 10.2 innings.  He struck out 14 and walked four.

2020:   Did Not Play

2019:   Pitched in five games with two starts for Phillies West (Rookie PHL) in the Gulf Coast League, going 1-0, 2.70 ERA in 10.0 innings, striking out 12 and walking nine.
