LINCOLN — The Saltdogs re-signed five-time All-Star OF Stephen Holdren and run-stifling rookie RHP Brandon Sinnery to new contracts over the weekend.

Holdren sports a career batting average of .298 with 109 home runs and 422 RBI in 609 games over seven seasons. The left-handed slugger hit .279 with nine home runs, 19 doubles and a club-leading 71 RBI last year in Lincoln.

Sinnery dazzled as a true rookie out of the University of Michigan in 2012. The 6-foot-4 right-hander went 5-1 with a 2.62 ERA in seven starts for the Saltdogs after being acquired in a July trade from London (Frontier League).

In the latter stages of the campaign, Sinnery only got stronger, twirling back-to-back shutouts in late August. The Worcester, Mass. native allowed just eight hits and three walks, striking out 12 over those 18 innings to execute arguably the most dominant stretch by any American Association pitcher in 2012.

Holdren, now 30, won Frontier League MVP honors and garnered Baseball America All-Indy honors for River City in 2011, where he hit .332 with 21 home runs and 84 RBI.

The Chesterfield, Mo. native has blasted 20 or more home runs in four of his seven professional seasons and has earned All-Star status five times.

Overall for the two teams in his rookie campaign, Sinnery compiled a 9-2 record with a 3.08 ERA. Perhaps most impressively, he sported a better than three-to-one strikeout-to-walk ratio.
