LINCOLN, NE – The Lincoln Police Department and Lincoln Fire and Rescue are preparing to slug it out in a home run derby as part of the first LPD/LFR Appreciation Day at Haymarket Park.

The home run derby is on Sunday, August 12 and will begin after the conclusion of the Lincoln Saltdogs game against the Texas AirHogs.  The contest is part of the LPD/LFR Appreciation Day and the Lincoln Saltdogs’ effort to raise awareness in the community for public safety.

LFR and the LPD will each offer four participants for the contest.  They will engage in two rounds of home run hitting with the winner earning a bat autographed by the Saltdogs team.  The event will cap off a fun day at the ballpark and show the Saltdogs’ appreciation for LPD/LFR.

Select LFR and LPD members will be recognized during the game.  The ‘Dogs take on the AirHogs at 1:05 PM.  Fans who purchase tickets for the Saltdogs game can stay to watch the home run derby.

Tickets are available at saltdogs.com/lpd-lfr or at the Haymarket Park Box Office.
