LINCOLN — The New Jersey Jackals jumped out early and coasted to a 10-0 win over the Saltdogs in front of 4,335 fans at Haymarket Park on Friday night.
 
Francisco Caraballo launched a three-run home run in the third inning, and former American League Rookie of the Year Angel Berroa poked a two-run shot out in the fourth to give the Jackals a 7-0 lead.
 
Steve Fox (2-0) stifled the Saltdogs, tossing seven innings of two-hit ball, striking out 10 and walking three to earn the victory. Chandler Barnard (0-1) went four innings, allowing six earned on eight hits so suffer the loss.
 
Lincoln committed four errors, leading to four unearned runs by New Jersey.
 
Tycen PoVey was the lone bright spot for the ‘Dogs, throwing four dominant innings of middle relief and allowing just one hit while fanning five.
 
The teams meet again for game two of the three-game series Saturday night at 7:05 p.m. Justin Edwards (0–0, 9.00) is expecte to pitch against Jon Kibler (1-0 3.60). Radio coverage begins at 6:35 p.m. on KFOR 1240.
