LINCOLN, NE – Lincoln might be over 1,500 miles from Key West and separated from the ocean by at least three states in every direction, but Haymarket Park will become a tropical destination on Saturday.
Lincoln’s ballfield will become “Parrot Head”-central as the Lincoln Saltdogs host the #1 Jimmy Buffett Tribute Band, Tom Watt and the Fruitcakes for pre and post-game concerts. Watt, known as “The Buffettman,” has been entertaining audiences around the U.S. and Canada, Caribbean Islands and the Bahamas for more than 16 years. He has logged more than 1,700 performances and entertains fans with Buffett favorites like “Margaritaville” and “Fins,” plus concert staples like “Brown Eyed Girl” and “A Pirate Looks at 40.”
The Saltdogs are taking the Buffett theme to another level. The first 1,000 fans to Haymarket Park will receive custom tropical themed Saltdogs hats. The team is getting in on island party, too! The players will wear special tropical jerseys for the game against the Gary SouthShore RailCats.
Concessions stands will turn into “Margaritaville” for the evening. Stands will serve frozen concoctions to help you hang on for $5 while $5 margaritas on the rocks (plus shakers of salt) will be at Mitt’s and the Diamond View Lounge. There’s no reason to try to amend your carnivorous habits, either. You can get $1 off your “Cheeseburger in Paradise” at Burgertopia and $5 burgers/cheeseburgers at stands.
The pregame concert will begin around 6:15 PM in the right field concourse and last until 6:45. Watt and the Fruitcakes will pick up the postgame concert in the 8th inning. First pitch is at 7:05 PM.
The Saltdogs (22-17) start their three-game set with Gary SouthShore on Friday night. Friday’s first pitch is at 7:05 PM with coverage beginning at 6:35 PM on ESPN 101.5 FM 1480 AM and Saltdogs.com/stream.
